We deliver an award winning approach towards encouraging enterprise in our community. This third and final year of the “Encouraging Entrepreneurship” contract with Barrow Regeneration (West Lakes Renaissance), aimed at promoting enterprise, received a significant boost by combining with a new contract from Barrow Borough Council, funded by the Working Neighbourhoods Fund (WNF). The three-year scheme drew to a close having delivered the following outcomes:
• 900 adults gained skills for life and 641 undertook work based training;
• 1,045 employees were provided with management and leadership skills;
• 323 people were assisted into a job;
• 26 jobs were created and 26 jobs safeguarded;
• 24 businesses were created.

The site is part of the ‘Encouraging Entrepreneurship in Furness’ project managed by Furness Enterprise supported by West Lakes Renaissance, as part of their Talented Minds Programme.
From the site, visitors can read up on local business news, check out upcoming events being held by Furness Enterprise and partners and, if you are a young person looking to move back or in to the area, upload CV details that are being promoted to local employers. The site has a particularly good focus on the local creative sector.
